Kusto Group’s deal with Tyson is transformational

This week I had the pleasure of representing Kusto Group at the signing of our historic agreement with US agricultural giant, Tyson Foods, at their headquarters in Springdale, Arkansas. Furthermore, we were delighted that Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Askar Mamin and other Kazakhstani government officials were also in attendance to sign the agreement.

The arrival in Kazakhstan of Tyson — whose subsidiary Tyson Fresh Meats is one of the world’s largest beef manufacturers — is a huge step towards meeting Kusto’s ambition of making Kazakhstan a global leader in agriculture through the use of modern technologies and world-best practices. Their investment is recognition of the enormous potential of Kazakhstan’s agricultural sector and of the confidence in Kazakhstan’s investment climate more broadly.

The investment project, set to be one of the largest in our country’s history, will be transformational for the agricultural sector. The annual economic benefit is expected to far exceed $1 billion and create tens of thousands of well-paid jobs. Most importantly, this deal will have an incredible impact on the lives of many Kazakhstanis in rural areas that need it most. It is all part of the modernisation, diversification and rebalancing of the Kazakh economy that is currently taking place to put the country on the path of sustainable growth.

Kusto Group is proud to be working with the Kazakh Government in the shared interest of advancing Kazakhstan’s development. We will continue our efforts to open up the Kazakh agricultural sector to the technological expertise and financial clout of US businesses at such an important time in the country’s history. This latest deal with Tyson is a great achievement for this strategy and the product of many months of hard work.

But signing the agreement is just the beginning. Now the work starts — alongside the Government — to drive this project forward, take advantage of the opportunities it presents for Kazakhstan’s beef production industry and make Kazakhstan a leading player in global agriculture.
